Readers are loving Even More Hacking Engagement!

I own Sturtevant’s first two Hacking Engagement books, so I was excited when I heard that another one was coming out. These are new ideas - not a rehash of old ones. Anyone who has followed the author knows that his creative teaching brain is on overdrive. Best of all, these ideas are grounded in respect for students and their learning.

As a first year teacher, I am always looking for ways to further engage my students. If you have ever read any books by James Sturtevant, you know that his mind is absolutely fascinating. He is always thinking and experimenting with new ways to engage his students. Teachers that are seeking more ways to engage students should always pick up a copy of his Hacking Engagement series because each hack is tried and perfected by Sturtevant prior to him writing them down. This book is an extremely easy read, especially for those of us that feel as if we never have a minute to spare. As someone that adheres to a project-based student-led learning environment, it was refreshing to read Hack 110 “Clear The Higher-Level-Thinking Bar”. To put it simply, “the higher the level…the higher the engagement”. While I strive to have students reach the level of creation, I have never thought of introducing students to Bloom Taxonomy. I cannot wait to try this with my students soon!
