As a Student Engager:

Your inner educator is willing to do anything to engage every single student. You want your students to not only love your subject, you want them racing to your classroom, eager to dive in to every lesson and activity every day. But you're not fooling yourself; you know that today's learners come to you with an array of issues that impact their level of engagement, including variables outside of school that are rarely in your control.

Plus, you may be saddled with a traditional curriculum and standards, and your district or school may have strict policies that inhibit a teacher's style and strategies. How can anyone inspire all students to want to learn their lessons and collaborate effectively with their peers? It's a monstrous challenge, for sure.

Based on how you answered the “What type of educator are you?” questions, your inner educator wants to create a classroom, or distance learning space, where kids feel welcomed, valued, and safe. You want to inspire every learner through conversation, collaboration, and exciting activities.

You're willing to learn and employ progressive ideas and strategies like project-based learning, inquiry, alternative assessment techniques, feedback literacy, modern technology, and anything else that encourages students to engage with your content daily, but you still see intimidating hurdles in your path.

You May Be Noticing:

Recent times have been overwhelming. You are seeing long, tired faces, some hidden behind masks, if you’re in-person, and others behind screens. Your shareholders need caring, energetic, innovative student engagers now more than ever. A pandemic, racial injustice, and political unrest have offered little relief, and you want to help your students fight through the stress, stay safe physically and emotionally, and still get excited about your class and your material. But how do you do it?

You May Be Feeling Like:

  • No matter how you try, you can’t seem to tip the scale, when it comes to balancing safety, compassion, and achievement.
  • Your efforts are going unnoticed, unless someone is complaining or crying for help.
  • Being a teacher today is overwhelming, maybe even impossible.

 👋  Hi. I'm Mark Barnes.

My school administrators were always working on another longterm plan. Even after 23 years as a classroom teacher, committee chairman, and teacher mentor, I generally felt like we never got anything done. Educators don’t need another 5- or 10-year plan. You need practical strategies from experienced teachers and leaders, who have failed more times than they can count and have turned those failures into the kinds of success that help our children flourish. I’m one of those educators.

Now, as founder of Times 10 Publications, I work with dozens of brilliant educators, with hundreds of years of combined experience, teaching and leading all grades and subjects, while working with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying abilities. You’ve got problems that need right-now solutions. I want to bring you the vast knowledge and experience of our entire team at Times 10, so you can solve every problem that comes your way. I’m here to help, because we’re in this together.
