As a Lead Learner:
Your inner educator is eager to serve teachers and district leaders, in ways that more effectively impact your school and all stakeholders. When you shift from being an administrator to a Lead Learner you realize that you can no longer lead from the top; you must lead from the middle.
While the traditional principal leads from an office and a podium, the Lead Learner is highly visible, working in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias and, yes, even on social media—actively engaging with everyone in the school community.
Based on how you answered the “What type of educator are you” questions, your inner educator wants to develop teachers and other leaders around you to be the best version of themselves so they can better serve students. You want to inspire all stakeholders through conversation, collaboration, and positive culture development.
You're willing to do whatever it takes to develop yourself in many ways, because you know that in order to be the leader you need to be, you have to walk the walk. You have to be more than just a principal. You have to nurture your inner educator and become a Lead Learner, and you long for new opportunities and assets to help you on this journey.
You May Be Noticing:
Recent times have been challenging. You and your fellow school leaders are seeing long, tired faces of teachers, hidden behind masks, if you’re in-person, and behind screens, if you’re virtual. Your shareholders need caring, insightful, innovative lead learners now more than ever. A pandemic, racial injustice, and political unrest have offered little grace for a profession that was already challenged from multiple angles, and you want to help your teachers, but how do you do it?
You May Be Feeling Like:
- No matter how you try, you can’t seem to tip the scale, when it comes to balancing safety, compassion, and achievement.
- Your efforts are going unnoticed, unless someone is complaining or crying for help.
- Being a school leader today is overwhelming, maybe even impossible.

👋 Hi. I'm Mark Barnes.
My school administrators were always working on another longterm plan. Even after 23 years as a classroom teacher, committee chairman, and teacher mentor, I generally felt like we never got anything done. Educators don’t need another 5- or 10-year plan. You need practical strategies from experienced teachers and leaders, who have failed more times than they can count and have turned those failures into the kinds of success that help our children flourish. I’m one of those educators.
Now, as founder of Times 10 Publications, I work with dozens of brilliant educators, with hundreds of years of combined experience, teaching and leading all grades and subjects, while working with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying abilities. You’ve got problems that need right-now solutions. I want to bring you the vast knowledge and experience of our entire team at Times 10, so you can solve every problem that comes your way. I’m here to help, because we’re in this together.
