Erika Garcia-Niles is a principal in St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to serving as principal, Erika served as an elementary and middle school teacher, literacy coach, math specialist, and instructional coordinator. As a teacher, Erika has won multiple awards and achieved National Board Certification. However, what she is most proud of are the relationships she has developed with students, staff, and the communities in which she has served.

Erika taught for 20 years before making the jump into administration. She credits her tenure as a teacher for the interest she has in supporting educators. As part of her doctoral studies at University of Missouri, St. Louis, Erika explored what teachers want from a principal in order to be successful and whether the COVID-19 pandemic impacted teachers’ expectations of a principal. When Erika isn’t busy serving her staff, she is a proud soccer mom and wife. Follow Erika on Twitter @flyingmonkey13
